Charges of drug peddling and possession of illegal drugs were filed before a local court against one of the three suspects in a controversial drug case, according to documents obtained Friday.

In two separate criminal indictments filed by Quezon City assistant prosecutor Alfredo Agcaoili, Joseph Ramirez Tecson was charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Tecson, who remains at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, was charged with violating section 5 (selling illegal drugs) and section 11 (possession) of Republic Act 9165.

Agcaoili recommended no bail for the drug peddling charge and P200,000 for the possession case.

Agcaoili, however, moved to have the two cases consolidated so that Tecson would be tried in just one court instead of the cases being raffled to separate courts for trial.

Although 8 states allow some form of gay marriage/civil unions, the unassuming state of Iowa has become the third American state to allow FULL gay marriage?
This is great for Iowa.
A VERY sensible state indeed.

Marriage isn't always a religious ceremony.
No specific religion owns the concept of marriage.

It belongs to all of humanity and this is one step further in the right direction. Discrimination is so yesterday.

Everyone should be able to get married.

In a unanimous decision, Iowa's Supreme Court ruled that the state cannot prohibit same-sex couples from seeking marriage licenses. "On our review, we hold the Iowa marriage statute violates the equal protection clause of the Iowa Constitution," the court held. "A statute inconsistent with the Iowa Constitution must be declared void, even though it may be supported by strong and deep-seated traditional beliefs and popular opinion."

Touchy Touchy Touchy

Much is being made of Michelle Obama and Queen Elizabeth's embrace. As the First Lady and Queen chatted at the G-20 reception at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday night, the Queen touched her hand to Michelle Obama's back, and the gesture was then returned. Royal etiquette dictates that the Queen not be touched unless she reaches out first, but back-patting is an almost unprecedented gesture.

But did the Queen like it?

Maybe.

The Daily Mail offers this eyewitness account:

No-one - including the ladies-in-waiting standing nearby - could believe their eyes. In 57 years, the Queen has never been seen to make that kind of gesture and it is certainly against all protocol to touch her.


'But she didn't seem to mind a bit and was smiling and joking throughout,' the eyewitness said.

Another defense for Michelle Obama, of course, says Time, is that she is not a subject of the Queen.
(Australians, despite referendums attempting to turn themselves into a republic, still recognize the Queen as their head of state.) The First Lady of the United States is not required to curtsy before her or any other crowned head. In any case, the touch lasted just a second or two, and the Queen did not seem particularly perturbed -- though she appeared slightly surprised as she drew away.

Tan now wears an ankle bracelet assigned by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who knocked on the front door at 6.30 am on Jan 28 this year, according to media reports. Immigration Equality released a press statement on Mar 27 highlighting the US’ discriminatory immigration laws saying: "We hope the press will generate US government interest in staying the deportation, and understanding of the need for passage of the Uniting American Families Act to stop the destruction of our families."

'Magic' Torches Ruin The Party

London-

Police are shining 'magic torches' into clubbers' faces to check for tiny traces of cocaine – and now employers and parents are being encouraged to follow suit.

Forces across the country are buying the £40 torches which can make any microscopic particles of cocaine or amphetamine that are invisible to the naked eye appear bright green.

Officers say the UV lights work as well as ones costing ten times as much and make it easy to spot the tin­iest traces of cocaine on nasal hair.

But drug campaigners have suggested the UV lights could be unlawful.

Claudia Rubin, head of policy at drugs charity Release, said: 'Searching someones nostrils could amount to a cavity search and is a serious breach of individual privacy.

'This simple piece of equipment will have a big impact on drug use in pubs and clubs.

'Traces of cocaine are also left on the cheeks and chin that are not visible to the naked eye and these show up bright green, too. It really is amazing.'
