Show Them The Money
LOSER SCAMMER FAILURE BULLY
Shocked? For sure. STUPID? Most def!
I'm not the only one dying of suspense here....waiting for the foreclosure and eviction outcome for the Karin Upton Baker family. (I Google her everyday waiting patiently with the rest of Sydney for news)
The shiteous Australian papers have not yet followed up with fresh blood words on Karin Upton Baker and the possibility that she and her family may be thrown out of her Elizabeth Bay mansion over a skyrocketing yet to be paid debt.
I have a feeling Karin will somehow miraculously survive this intact.....
Rich people like Karin and he uber loser husband "property developer" Gary Baker always seem to survive.
I like Karin and I hope she recovers from this. I really do.
But I also lost most of my respect for her after she played the "me just wifey, me so dumb"card.
Loser move Karin.
You worked so hard and now we all just think you're a Tupperware wife.
Led on a chain by your husband.
Not at all a high powered executive I once thought you were.

Bishops Lying Again......
Thou shalt no lie! One of the commandments you idiot! I hope you go to hell for lying to the Filipino people. STRAIGHT to hell!
Roman Catholic bishops in the Philippines, in an apparent attempt to escalate a row over the government’s promotion of condoms, on Tuesday called for the sacking of the secretary of the Department of Health. The sensitive birth-control issue in the country flared last week after Health Secretary Esperanza Cabral led a campaign to hand out free condoms on Valentine’s Day as part of the battle against HIV and AIDS.
“It’s so immoral for someone in the government to be pushing the use of condoms, which we all know is not deterrent to AIDS prevention,” Bishop Ramon Arguelles, of the Lipa City diocese in Batangas province, south of Manila, said in a church statement.
The Catholic Church forbids artificial birth control, including condoms.
The statement, signed by two other bishops, was posted on the website of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, an organization grouping the Philippines’ church leaders.
It urged President Gloria Arroyo to dismiss Cabral, saying she should not be allowed to influence the nation’s young.
“It’s worrying because it is the morality in society, especially among the youth, that is at stake,” Arguelles said.
President Arroyo’s deputy spokesman Gary Olivar brushed off the bishops’ call.
“We should remember that public officials should be judged by standards of public policy interest as set forth in our laws and legal precedents, not by the morality of this or that institution,” Olivar told reporters.
About 75 million Filipinos, out of a national population of 93 million, are Catholics, a legacy of the country’s Spanish colonial past.
A Reproductive Health bill pending in Congress is criticized by the bishops for supposedly advocating artificial contraception.
Their view is unopposed, partly because 2010 is an election year, and candidates for public office in the May 10 polls would rather keep silent than openly contradict the country’s religious leaders. The bishops are perceived as politically influential and would not look too kindly at candidates who throw support behind the Reproductive Health bill.

Nike (Tiger Woods) Says Sorry
"I said 'I'm so proud of you. Never think you stand alone. Mom will always be there for you and I love you," Kultida Woods said. -SO beautiful
Tiger Woods apologized to his friends, family, fans and business parters today at a speech in Florida. Woods expressed regret for "irresponsible and selfish behavior." He strongly denied rumors that wife Elin Nordegren struck him the night of his car accident, and firmly stated that domestic violence has never been a part of his marriage.
Woods said that he will return to golf but he does not "know when that day will be." He also criticized the media for intruding in the lives of his wife, children and mother. "Please leave my wife and kids alone," he firmly stated.
Woods invoked Buddhism as well:
I actively practiced my faith from childhood until I drifted away from it in recent years. Buddhism teaches that a craving for things outside ourselves causes an unhappy and pointless search for security. It teaches me to stop following every impulse and to learn restraint. Obviously, I lost track of what I was taught.Tigers mother Kultida Woods had this to say about her superstar son after he spoke-
"I am upset the way media treated him like he’s a criminal. He didn’t kill anybody, he didn’t do anything illegal. They’ve being carrying on from thanksgiving until now, that’s not right," she said.
"People don’t understand that Tiger has a very good heart and soul," she said, citing the role of his foundation in helping kids and also in Thailand. "Sometimes I think there is a complete double standard… He tried to improve himself."
Kultida Woods said that the scrutiny of Tiger is magnified by his celebrity.
"It’s not easy to be him," she said. "(People) go to work 8 to 5 and go home to have a life with the family. Tiger can’t do that."
She also said that Buddhism would help her son get through the ordeal
"Buddhism teaches you to go deep inside your soul and look through from himself, and correct the bad thing to be a good thing," she said. "When he realized, he said okay, and went back to practice Buddhism and that will make him a much better person."

Australias' First Saint
MARY MacKillop will become Australia's first saint, Pope Benedict XVI declared in a ceremony at the Vatican.
The Pope formally announced he would canonise the Melbourne-born nun on October 17, in a service in St Peter's Square that could draw thousands of Australian pilgrims.
Australia's Sister Maria Casey was among those who attended the historic meeting to confirm Mary MacKillop's sainthood.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be the one who would see it through to the end," said Sister Maria, who led the sainthood campaign.
"It's a rare privilege indeed."
Holy See ambassador Tim Fischer said: "This is a terrific salute to an outstanding Australian, a giant leader in education and many other fields."

No Olympic Babies or HIV
In the lead-up to the 2000 Sydney Olympics, health officials distributed 70,000 to the visiting athletes. They were 20,000 short. Two years ago in Beijing, 100,000 condoms were provided.
That's also the number of condoms on hand at the Vancouver Olympics. Since fewer athletes (and countries) attend the Winter Olympics, more protection will be available for each attendee. The "Today" show estimates that there are 14 condoms for "each of the 7,000 athletes, coaches, trainers and officials housed in the Games' two villages."
In 2008, a spokesman for UNAIDS China explained the reasoning: "There are many young, strong, single people in the athletes' village and, like everywhere, some will fall in love or other things so we need to make condoms available."
In 2008, former table tennis player Matthew Syed called the Olympics as a "sex fest" and described his experience at the Summer Games.-HP"Jesus was Gay" -Elton John
Was Jesus a gay man?
Controversial Elton John on the latest cover of Parade
"I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East -- you're as good as dead."

Indian Police Probe AIDS Stigma Suicide
Stigma kills NOT HIV!
India-The police have started their investigation into the death of a 32-year old person who had committed suicide at Mahadev Jawain village in Allahabad district on Monday after allegedly facing months of humiliation from his family and villagers for being HIV-positive.
Chintamani Vishwakarma, a resident of Mahadev Jawain village under Koraon Block in the trans-Yamuna area, had committed suicide by setting himself on fire.
He used to shuffle between his village and Mumbai, where he worked at a small factory. In August 2009, he tested positive for HIV at the state-owned SRN hospital in Allahabad.
Chintamani then informed his brother Chote Lal, who works as labourer. The family is economically weak.
Gradually the news of his HIV-positive status spread in the village.
“Wherever Chintamani went, he met with scorn. He then began confining himself in his room,” said Raj Kumar, a resident of the village. According to the villagers, Chintamani was very upset for the last several days and even refused to eat.
He set himself on fire to escape the pain.

Marijuana Provides Pain Relief
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- The first U.S. clinical trials in more than two decades on the medical benefits of marijuana confirm pot is effective in reducing muscle spasms associated with multiple sclerosis and pain caused by certain neurological injuries or illnesses, according to a report issued Wednesday.
Igor Grant, a psychiatrist who directs the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research at the University of California, San Diego, said five studies funded by the state involved volunteers who were randomly given real marijuana or placebos to determine if the herb provided relief not seen from traditional medicines.
"There is good evidence now that cannabinoids may be either an adjunct or a first-line treatment," Grant said at a news conference where he presented the findings.-AP
Senator Loren Legarda Angers LGBTQ
Loren Legarda just used the expression "Nabakla" (literally, "turned gay") to refer to Mar Roxas' supposed role in a diluted version of the Cheap Medicine Bill. While Roxas' sexuality is, to begin with, HIS issue, Legarda shouldn't use "bakla" (gay) to refer to weakness - this is even more disappointing considering she's a woman, once considered a "weaker sex." Watch your words, Senator because we are watching you!

Proud to be a Canadian
Alexandre in full flight winning Canadas' first ever Olympic gold medal on home soil
Alexandre Bilodeau (middle) celebrates Monday in Vancouver after receiving his Olympic gold medal in the freestyle skiing moguls event at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. He finished ahead of Australia's reigning champion, Dale Begg-Smith (left), who was born and raised in West Vancouver, and American Bryon Wilson.

Canada saluted "Alexandre the Great" on a night the country has waited to celebrate for 34 long, painful years.
And as the majority of 22,000 fans stood and lustily sang "O Canada," they almost blew the Teflon roof off B.C. Place Stadium.
"It was the best gift I could ever imagine from Canadians, just singing that anthem with me," said a damp-eyed Alex Bilodeau, who won gold in the moguls competition at Cypress Sunday.
"I'm just so proud to be Canadian."
B.C. Place was a sea of red and white with most of the crowd cheering for Canada as the Maple Leaf was raised above the Stars and Stripes and the Australian flag.
When video clips of the three medallists were shown on a big screen, the crowd cheered bronze medallist Bryon Wilson of the U.S.
But some booed transplanted West Vancouverite Dale Begg-Smith, who won the silver for Australia.
Canada had waited more than three decades to watch one of its athletes top the podium on home soil.
It didn't happen in Montreal in 1976 or in Calgary in 1988 and, until Sunday, Canada held the dubious record of being the only Olympic host country to have failed to win gold.
Bilodeau, 22, was modest when asked about that achievement.
"Yeah, but I'm not the last and there'll be many more in these Games," he said. "That medal isn't worth more than the upcoming ones."
He said he was amazed at the roar that shook the stadium when he was introduced.
"There are no words to describe that," he said.
"It's the best feeling ever. It's a dream come true."
He said it was like winning the lottery competing in his own country.
Asked what he'd said Sunday night to his older brother -- and inspiration -- Frederic, who suffers from cerebral palsy, Bilodeau said it had been his brother's birthday on Feb. 8.
"I said, 'Happy birthday. I love you.'"
Quebec Premier Jean Charest watched the medal presentations and Premier Gordon Campbell unfurled a large Canadian flag.
Vancouver 2010 CEO John Furlong said Canada was lucky to have Bilodeau as its first gold medal-winner on home soil.
"He's a wonderful young guy and he's got a such a great spirit," Furlong said. "Today he's the most popular citizen in Canada."
Many people in the crowd said they were delighted to have lucked out on seeing Bilodeau get his medal.
"We didn't know until we got here tonight," said Leslie Pearson, a Vancouver human-resources consultant. "That made us even more thrilled."
Meanwhile, on the streets of Vancouver, the crowds went wild.
Hundreds of fans loudly cheered and shouted "Canada! Canada! Canada!" at Robson Square as the gold medal was placed around Bilodeau's neck.
Everyone stood and loudly sang "Oh Canada" as the Canadian flag was raised live on the big screen telecast from B.C. Place Stadium.
"It gave me goosebumps," said Kyle McNeil, 26, of Vancouver.
"This gold medal was a long time coming. And he deserved to win it. I'm glad it happened in my own town."
Others were equally excited.
"I" m so proud," said Larry Lee, 30, of Vancouver.
"I'm full of pride to be a Canadian."
"It was awesome. I feel really patriotic," said Katie Andersen, 22, of Toronto.-APSaturday, February 13, 2010
Lucio Tan BUYS the Philippines
The most powerful man in the Philippines, Lucio Tan
Lucio Tans' concubine Letty Tan
Lucio Tan is the Philippines’ second richest man and one of the richest in Asia. But it is the way in which he has made his billions that perfectly illustrates the crony capitalism and CORRUPTION that has plagued the Philippines (and a lot of other Third World countries). He comes from poor Chinese immigrant descent (Chinese were not entitled to Filipino citizenship until the 1970s) and started off as a scrap dealer – thus fulfilling the Filipino stereotype of Chinese. As a young man he moved into the tobacco industry, where he first met the young Congressman, Ferdinand Marcos. During the long years of the Marcos dictatorship, Lucio Tan was his closest crony.
In 1987 (after Marcos’ overthrow by the People Power revolution) Rolando Gapud, Marcos’ financial adviser, swore an affidavit to the Presidential Commission on Good Government: "I know that Mr Marcos and Mr Lucio Tan had an understanding that Mr Marcos owns 60% of Shareholdings Inc, which owns shares in Fortune Tobacco, Asia Brewery, Allied Bank and Foremost Farms…Mr Lucio Tan, apart from the 60% equity of Mr Marcos, has been regularly paying, through Security Bank, 60 to 100 million pesos a year to Mr Marcos, in exchange for privileges and concessions that Mr Marcos has been giving him" .
After Marcos’ downfall, he attached himself to the rising star of Senator Joseph Estrada, who went on to become Vice-President under Fidel Ramos, then was elected President, in 1998. Tan was the major financier of his successful Presidential campaign. He became Estrada’s closest crony, regularly being seen with him in public and travelling with him (most unusual for the usually circumspect Filipino-Chinese business class). Estrada looked after his mate – when the tax department charged Fortune Tobacco with P26.5 billion in tax evasion, Tan’s well placed connections throughout the bureaucracy, judiciary and the political system (including the President) ensured that the charges were dropped (the Court of Appeals ruled that the Government had filed its case 11 days too late)
Estrada went the way of Marcos, in January 2001, when People Power 2 overthrew him – But Lucio Tan emerged unscathed. True to form, he has renounced Estrada and carried on profitably under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Business is business – politics is only the means to enable him to acquire more wealth and power. And any means will do.
Lucio Tan is the very worst sort of crony capitalist and a devil incarnate.

Vancouver Olympics 2010
Wow, I'm so excited to finally get to watch the 2010 Winter Olympics in British Columbia. I bought some beer and popcorn to watch the opening ceremonies tonight.
I LOVE winter sports because they're so dangerous and unpredictable. It's just so exciting to watch them every four years.
I just wish it would snow!
I LOVE Canadian figure skater Patrick Chan

House of Numbers?
Synopsis
What is HIV?
What is AIDS?
What is being done to cure it?
These questions sent Canadian filmmaker Brent Leung on a worldwide journey, from the highest echelons of the medical research establishment to the slums of South Africa, where death and disease are the order of the day. In this up-to-the-minute documentary, he observes that although AIDS has been front-page news for over 28 years, it is barely understood.
Despite the great effort, time, and money spent, no cure is in sight.
Born in 1980 (on the cusp of the epidemic), Leung reveals a research establishment in disarray, and health policy gone tragically off course.
Gaining access to a remarkable array of the most prominent and influential figures in the field — among them the co-discoverers of HIV, presidential advisors, Nobel laureates, and the Executive Director of UNAIDS, as well as survivors and activists — his restrained approach yields surprising revelations and stunning contradictions.
The HIV/AIDS story is being rewritten, and this is the first film to present the uncensored POVs of virtually all the major players — in their own settings, in their own words. It rocks the foundation upon which all conventional wisdom regarding HIV/AIDS is based.
If, as South African health advocate Pephsile Maseko remarks, “this is the beginning of a war…a war to reclaim our health,” then House of Numbers could well be the opening salvo in the battle to bring sanity and clarity to an epidemic clearly gone awry.

Tragic McQueen Suicide
A shoe that will live on in history along with McQueens' pure genius
McQueen being removed from his London home
Lady Gaga and Alexander McQueen were a match made in heaven...
The designers body was discovered at his property in Green Street, in London's West End, shortly after 10am today. Paramedics were called but he was pronounced dead at the scene. A postmortem has been scheduled but police said his death was not being treated as suspicious. They would not comment on reports he had killed himself.
Alexander McQueen is one of the most talked about, controversial and inspiring fashion designers of his generation. Born into a working class East End family, McQueen left school at sixteen with one O-Level. His rapid rise through the fashion industry has seen him open boutiques around the world, man the helm of a Parisian Couture house, and be awarded the British Designer of the Year award four times, alongside a CBE. Known for his strong opinions, a series of clashes with the fashion establishment has earned him the label "the hooligan of English fashion".
Fashion designer Alexander McQueen has taken his own life at age 40. His office confirmed his death, saying: 'It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.' He was found at his home in London.
McQueen was due to present his Fall 2010 collection TODAY as part of New York Fashion Week. KCD, the PR company handling the show, says the presentation is canceled.-HP

Armani Angers Soccer Moms
Armani Exchange came up with a "Share the Love" Valentine's Day campaign, which is unique in that it features same-sex couples. However, the American Family Association's OneMillionMoms.com is upset by the ads. The organization aims to rid our society of the "filth" their children must contend with every day. Normally they focus on television, but they write on their website that they can no longer ignore "fashion designers using scantily dressed models in advertisements who have recently put their focus on threesomes or same-sex couples." Apparently this ad campaign qualifies as filth for several reasons, according to this site.
